Understand Risk (UR) Forum 2024

GAIP had the pleasure of attending the Understanding Risk Forum (UR24) Forum in Himeji, Japan last week. The UR Forum is the world's leading conference on improving the assessment and understanding of disaster and climate risks.

The event was incredibly insightful, bringing together governments, development agencies, academia, and non-governmental organisations, all united by the clear objective of better understanding risk.

GAIP Deputy CEO Min Hung Cheng participated in the panel “Better Coordination and Information Exchange about Risk Data and Analytics work”. This session explored on how to strengthen the exchange of information about risk data and analytics work. Building on ongoing discussions by regional insurance pools, looking to broaden the conversation to more organisations.

Key takeaways from the event include:

  • Aligning GAIP's vision with a comprehensive global risk reduction approach.
  • Expanding collaborative networks and nurturing significant partnerships.
  • Enhancing global best practices by contributing to shaping the forefront of disaster risk reduction strategies.
