Associate Professor of Risk and Insurance & Co-Director, Insurance Risk and Finance Research Centre, NTU
Dr. Shinichi Kamiya is an Associate Professor of Risk and Insurance and Co-Director of the Insurance Risk and Finance Research Centre at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
He received his Ph.D. in Risk and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2010 and his Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 2003. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Kamiya taught actuarial courses at Keio University and Tohoku University and worked at Yasuda Fire & Marine Insurance.
Dr. Kamiya has published in leading finance and insurance journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, and the North American Actuarial Journal. He has received several academic awards, including the Journal of Risk and Insurance Best Paper Award in 2023, the NBS Research Award in 2020, and the European Financial Management Readers' Choice Best Paper Award in 2019.
His current research focuses on climate and catastrophe risks, as well as corporate risk management.
