The term "protection gap" is well known and has been the subject of extensive discussion both within and outside the insurance sector. The magnitude and significance of the protection gaps estimates draws attention not just from the insurance sector, but also the public, media, and governments.
The gaps are growing – our changing physical risk environment, technology, demographic adjustments, and structural changes to economies, all contributes to increases in risk exposures and hence, the protection gaps.
A new GAIP policy paper examines the concept of protection gaps, the motivations and factors behind the attention given, what is required to effectively manage the gaps, as well as what can be done now, to motivate further action.
